Docked in the Bergen, Norway harbor, these two beautiful craft, though built for different purposes, are design statements of their respective ages. From there, though, the differences begin to emerge. While it uses natural materials and a quiet, pollution free energy source, the wooden fishing boat is limited in carrying capacity and speed (compared to modern craft). Though it overcomes these two issues, the Graupner catamaran is powered by a marine diesel that belches exhaust, oily bilge water and transmits unpleasant noises and vibrations through the passenger cabin.
